What is Iron Decontamination?

Iron contaminants are tiny bits of ferrous (metallic) material that can get stuck on your car’s paintwork. This ferrous material can come from everywhere — rail dust, brake dust, exhaust, etc. and with cars moving around each other all the time, this type of metal fallout frequently gets kicked up onto car paint.

Iron Decontamination is a chemical process of removing said contaminants from a vehicles’ surface. Driving these ferrous contaminants into the paint with a machine polisher will likely cause further damage, so it is considered a necessary step in preparing a vehicle for any paint correction service.

In order for ceramic coatings to properly bond to car paint, an iron decontamination wash is considered necessary as well. As such, iron decontamination is part of any ceramic or paint correction service offered by TopShine Detailing.
